Fractal Space Trilogy: New Covers

While awaiting feedback on my draft of The Gods in Haven, I've taken the opportunity to fix something that's been nagging away at me for a while now. The novels of the Fractal Space trilogy now have new covers!

I was a bit naive when I originally created the covers for the books back in 2023. My usual process is to get one or more freely usable images from the Pixabay website, and tweak and combine them to create the look that I want. As an example, this was the original photoshop image I used as the basis for The Gods in Haven cover:

And this is how it ended up:

That was similar to how I pieced together the Fractal Space covers. However, back then, I wasn't quite so averse to AI generated images, nor did Pixabay explicitly label them as such. Not a great excuse, I know!

Better knowing what AI image generation looks like now, I've increasingly found the existing Fractal Space covers an eyesore. It was about time I fixed that. As you can see at the top, the new covers are based upon actual astronomical imagery, again tweaked by me. Much better.

I've kept the red/green/blue colour theme of the original covers, but have fixed one anomaly: peace really should have been green, and war red. The reason for that was historical, and increasingly ridiculous. Another problem fixed!

The new covers are already live on Amazon, and several of the Draft2Digital outlets, and will be propagating through the rest over the next couple of days.

Right, back to planning the next novel, which is increasingly looking like an unexpected sequel to The Gods in Haven, set about ten years later. It's coming together nicely. I'll firm up a few of the ideas by writing a short story or two set in the intervening years.
